Whether you’re gearing up for a Superbowl party or a Christmas get-down, you can never have too many ideas when it comes to appetizers. These ham and cheese party rolls look absolutely delicious, no doubt they’ll be a big hit with your guests, and best of all, you won’t have to slave over a hot stove for hours to pull them off.
To make them, you first need to get your ingredients together: 12 slices of thin-sliced Swiss cheese, .75 pounds of thin-sliced deli ham and a can of Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crust. The glaze requires a few ingredients as well: a tablespoon each of poppy seeds, Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard, as well as two tablespoons of brown sugar and eight tablespoons of butter. Set those aside for the time being as you prepare the rolls themselves.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and coat a 9 by 13-inch baking container with cooking spray. Take the pizza dough and roll it out over a cutting board, and cover it with ham and cheese slices. Roll the long edge of the dough up so that you have one long roll. Pinch the seam along the length so that it is less likely to come apart, and take a knife to cut the roll into 12 one-inch pieces. Scatter those pieces along the baking dish.
Next, prepare the glaze. Mix the ingredients listed above in a sauce pan over medium heat. Use a whisk to stir the glaze until the butter is completely melted and everything is uniform. Once you are satisfied that the glaze is perfectly smooth, pour it over the rolls so that each one gets roughly the same amount of glaze. Finally, pop them in the oven for 25 minutes, after which they should emerge golden-brown and with a delectable aroma.
You can also stick them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours and then pop them in the oven shortly before your company arrives so they will be hot and fresh. I can feel my mouth watering just writing about them. I think I’ll go make a few now, actually…
