Tim and Bethani Webb got the shock of their lives just seven months after being married when they found out that they were to be the parents of four identical baby girls despite the fact that they did not take fertility drugs. Additionally, there is no multiples that they know of on either side of the family. The chances of this happening are four in 15 million.
The four identical girls were born at 33 weeks plus one day after Bethani suffered problems with preeclampsia at Lois Hole Hospital for Woman. First to arrive was Abigail who weighed 3 pounds followed by Emily and Grace. Last to arrive on the scene was the largest McKayla who weighed in at four pounds one ounce.
Two of the girls initially had jaundice, but none had any other health problems at birth. Just a few days after they were born, the girls were life-flighted to Grande Prairie Hospital so that they could be closer to family.
Dad Tim says that he almost fainted during the ultrasound when the technician told them that they were having four babies. Mother Bethani says it is a very good thing that she was lying down. Now, they could not be happier as they adjust to their lives on a single income.
The family is now at home in Hythe, Alberta, Canada. The community has rallied around to support this young couple with many giving funds to help the couple buy a minivan. A tire dealer even donated four identical car seats.
Each girl is starting to show her own personality. Initially, the parents painted the girl’s toenails so that they could tell them apart. The parents say that the nights are still the hardest with the girls demanding to be fed multiple times. The family lives in the house where Tim grew up. The home is stuffed with baby stuff everywhere including identical wardrobes for the girls.
The future looks very bright for this young couple who have not announced rather they plan on having any more children.
