Man Saves Crocodile From Death, Self-Sacrifice Costs Him Dearly

A farmer shot a crocodile about 20 years ago. The crocodile was left to die. However, a man named Chito Shedden discovered the dying crocodile. Chito is an animal lover, so he decided that he had to do something to help the crocodile. He committed himself to nursing the crocodile back to health. He named the crocodile “Pocho.”

Chito stated that he wanted Pocho to feel loved. He also stated that he wanted to show Pocho that there are still some good humans. Chito stated that he loved all animals and did not want to see them suffer. When Pocho healed, Chito released him back into the river. He was surprised to see Pocho sleeping on his porch the next day. Pocho had followed Chito home.

Chito started to take care of Pocho, and they became friends. A local veterinarian also helped Chito take care of Pocho. Both scientists and tourists are surprised by the friendship that Chito and Pocho.

Sadly, Pocho died in 2011 at the age of 50 from natural causes. Hundreds of people came to Pocho’s funeral. Chito is heartbroken by the death of his friend, but he is still spreading awareness about the misconceptions people have about crocodiles.
