Man Flees London Terror Attacks Clutching His Beer Becomes Symbol of Resilience

A recent picture is circulating, and its central focus is that of Londoners running to escape terror attacks, but it’s now being viewed as an emblem that depicts the Swinging City’s resilience of spirit, thanks to one of the crowd members who was carrying a pint in the midst of the scramble seemingly not in a hurry unlike his rushing neighbors.

The photo was obtained from news footage that featured people stampeding through a street in the city. In the midst of all the racing pedestrians, the center of attention has become the man with the drink. He was strolling peacefully, continuing along his way while holding his pint the whole time. Although he was unidentified, social media went viral with the picture.

The impetus for the photo came Saturday night near 10:00pm, when a vehicle identified as a white van slammed into passersby who were walking on London Bridge. Reports from a variety of sources say that assailants emerged from the van and headed to Borough Market. They proceeded to travel from one bar to another stabbing victims as they went.

There are at least seven deaths from the attack, and just under 50 people were seriously injured.
