Losing Deals: Trump To Pay Huge Court Ordered Settlement To A Small Business He Cheated

The so-called businessman and self-proclaimed master of the art of the deal is back in familiar territory as a circuit court judge in Florida ordered him to pay $282,000 to a small business for renovation work completed on his Trump National Golf Course.

The contract was for $200,000 for work completed by the Paint Shop out of Doral County. When the Paint Shop finished the renovation work, Trump National Golf Course withheld a final payment of $34,683. The argument for withholding the payment was that Trump had paid enough to the small business. However, the circuit court judge declared that was not a viable argument and ordered Trump National to pay not only what was owed but to pay for court costs and legal fees.

In the end, Trump has to pay an additional $247,000 more than just paying the $35,000 that he owed the small business to begin with. Many pundits who oppose Donald Trump point out that this is his idea of good business and a perfect example of why he is not the businessman he claims to be.

Some say this is a reflection of his thought process and why he would make a dangerous president. Pundits fear that Trump will use these so-called business practices to negotiate risky deals that could affect critical imports such as energy or use bullying tactics to lower the interest on the trade deficit. Is Trump full of idle whims? The people of the U.S. may soon find out.
