The WDSF World Formation Latin finals is typically a very tense dance competition. While most dance teams stick to tradition and do classic dances, one team chose to think outside of the box. At the 2014 WDSF World Formation Latin Finals that were held in Bremen, Germany, the DueTeam dance team from Perm, Russia did a very unique dance routine.
Instead of just sticking to one dance that was choreographed to a single song, the team picked an elaborate medley full of many styles and musical themes. They start out looking like they are going to do a typical dance routine, as eight handsome young men in formal suits line up one side while eight graceful young ladies in high heels and shimmering black dresses group up on the other side of the room. They are all perfectly made up, and their hair is swept into complicated updos. However, when the first notes of a musical medley from the television show, Glee begin, it is clear that this is no normal dance routine.
They use a variety of dancing styles, including salsa dancing, tango dancing, waltzing, jive dancing, and rumba dancing, that seamlessly transitions between each of the songs included in the medley. And the songs chosen by the DueTeam dancing team is one of the best parts of their performance. They include “Ice, Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice, “La Isla Bonita” by Madonna, and “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John. These fun picks give the dancing team a flair that stands out from the rest of the competition.
Though their song and dance choices may be unorthodox, the DueTeam’s performance remains flawless. As they dance, all eight couples remain completely in sync, and they appear completely at ease while doing impressive acrobatic dancing moves. This mix of amazing choreography, unique song choices, and talented dancing definitely makes DueTeam one of the best dancing teams at the 2014 WDSF World Formation Latin finals. The reactions of the other dancers show that they are truly intimidated by the DueTEam from Russia. Not only are they fantastic dancers, but all sixteen of the dancers look like they are truly enjoying themselves as they perform this perfectly practiced routine.
