In the United States, popcorn has become a popular treat and is synonymous with enjoying the movie experience. However, the food has become processed and often times is very unhealthy due to a high fat content and lots of chemical additions. That is what makes this approach to making popcorn so easy. You won’t even need a popcorn popper to do it. All that is needed is a microwave oven, a microwave safe bowl and plate, popcorn kernels, oven gloves, and optionally some butter.

First, place the amount of kernels to be popped in the bowl. A quarter cup of kernels is fine as that is the amount used in microwave popcorn bags. Cover the bowl with a microwave safe plate. Set your microwave oven on high for three minutes. If you are looking to add some butter, put a tablespoon’s worth of it on top of the plate. This will allow the butter to melt.

After the popcorn has popped, use the mitts to take out the plate and drizzle the butter onto the popcorn. Carefully set the plate aside in a safe spot to avoid getting burned. You may now enjoy your healthy hot buttered popcorn. If you want to add some salt, sprinkle sea salt for a fine taste. Sea salt is very healthy as it contains essential trace elements.
