It is no secret that infants cry. They cry when they are hungry, when they are tired, when they are wet, uncomfortable, and sometimes for no reason at all. For new mom Hayley, she did not think much of it when she placed her infant son Samuel down to be changed in a public restroom last month and he began crying.
Hayley finished changing Samuel and did not notice anything was wrong until she picked him up again. That is when she noticed that his back was red and irritated. This led her to inspect the public changing table where she found that someone had “spiked” the changing mat.
That is, some horrible person decided it would be a good prank to place push pins sticking out where the babies would lay down. Unknowingly, Hayley had laid little Samuel down on top of five pins sticking out of the mat.
Once the pair were home, Hayley took pictures of Samuel’s back and posted them- along with a warning- onto her social media accounts. She warned other parents to be aware when using public restrooms with their children and showed what happened to Samuel.
This is not the first case of “spiking” that the United Kingdom has seen. There have been several babies from Oxfordshire Village that were injured in a similar incident.
