In One Of The Most Emotional Photos Ever Taken, A 101-Year-Old Embraces Her Family’s Future

There is a common expression that many people have heard it, and it is that a picture is worth a thousand words. This picture may be worth even more than that. It is a picture of a 101 year old woman holding a two week old baby that is related to her. This woman was born in 1914, which was a truly different time than the one we know now. Most of us were not here at that time and would not be for at least several years afterwards.

In 1914, Mother’s Day was declared a national holiday when Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation. This was also the year when World War I started. Also in 1914, the St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line became the only airline at the time, and the first airline ever, to offer commercial flights that were regularly scheduled.

A Reddit user posted this photograph of the woman, born in 1914, holding the two week old baby of her cousin. She writes the following: “This is a picture of my cousin’s two week old baby. It captures a truly profound moment…”

One can imagine when looking at this photo that the old woman is looking at the child and hoping to convey all of the experience and wisdom that she has learned during her long lifetime on this new life. Even though the baby will not be able to remember this moment, she can look at this photo and see the profoundness of what was captured.
