I’ll Never Buy My Dog’s Treats From A Store Again After Seeing THIS…

There is a great deal of information about commercial dog treats that can be of concern – including food recalls and hazardous issues with imported treats. Feeding your dog natural, homemade treats can be a great way to carefully choose ingredients that are safe and healthy for your dog. There are many good recipes to choose from including this healthy, easy-to-prepare treat for your pooch.

2-½ c. whole wheat flour
1 c. wheat germ
½ c. ground flax seed
1 T. honey
3 eggs
½ c.c olive oil
1 c. water
1/2 c. applesauce
½ c. pureed pumpkin

Prepare a baking sheet with cooking spray, and preheat the oven to 350°F. Combine flour, wheat germ and flax seed in a large mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, combine honey, eggs, olive oil, water, applesauce and pureed pumpkin. Add the combined wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, and mix well to form a soft dough.

Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about a ¼” thickness. Using a cookie cutter – preferably in a bone shape or other dog-related shape – cut out shapes and place on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes until dark golden brown and hard. After cooling completely, store the treats in an airtight container.

Your dog will be sure to enjoy these fresh, natural homemade dog treats! They make a wonderful gift for your dog-owning friends and neighbors as well.
