Soldiers can sometimes be gone for months at a time. They miss holidays, birthdays and other special events. One soldier has been away from home for about nine months. He returns home to meet someone special.
He went to Afghanistan in 2009, leaving behind his wife. His wife was pregnant when he left. Although he was able to spend a short amount of time with her, both of them knew that he wouldn’t be there for the birth of their child.
His wife was about five weeks from her due date when he got the call that she was in labor. He was not there to support his wife during her final days of pregnancy or for the birth of their daughter. This is a time in life that fathers cherish and a time when mothers need the support of another.
The man was able to return home in 2010. His daughter was four months old when he returned home, but the soldier was very happy to see his little girl for the first time as though she had just been born. The special moment when he was finally able to see his wife and daughter was captured on video, and it is something to bring tears to those who view the moment.
