Two students at Northwest University were arrested after they defiled a university chapel. The students allegedly wrote racial slurs all over the chapel. They also wrote derogatory things about Muslims.
The students are 18-year-old Matthew Kafker and 19-year-old Anthony Morales. They are being held in jail on a $50,000 bail. They have been charged with institutional vandalism, a hate crime in a place of worship and criminal damage to property.
Both faculty and students are upset about the vandalism. Tim Stevens is the university chaplain. He has stated that it is disturbing to think that someone would do such a thing. He also stated that Northwest University is committed to keeping a safe environment for everyone. This is the fourth time that the university has been vandalized within the past few months.
The good news is that the graffiti has been removed from the chapel. There is no permanent damage to the chapel. There has violence at many Donald Trump’s rallies.
This has shown many people that violence is a way to get a point across. Morton Shapiro is the university president. He has stated that the actions of the students who decided to defile the temple violate the core values of the university.
