Ivanka Trump, daughter of Donald Trump, has been blacklisted by the people. Her father’s actions throughout his presidential campaign and during his early days in office have left millions of Americans furious – and their anger is spilling into Ivanka Trump’s life.
Ivanka is now experiencing backlash due to her close association to her father. Though her father’s actions are not her fault, she does have a unique opportunity to stand up to him. However, despite this platform, Ivanka has yet to condemn his actions, racist remarks or mysoginism. Ivanka has failed to make any comments on his recent executive orders to ban immigrants from Muslim countries.
With her connection to Trump and her silence regarding severe issues, one Washington D.C. gym owner, Ann Mahlum, was furious when Ivanka visited her popular DC gym, Solidcore.
Following the visit, Ann Mahlum took to her personal Facebook page to blast Ivanka and her unwillingness to address her father’s controversial actions. The angry post wrote:
“What you do when you find out Ivanka Trump just took [Solidcore], but used an alias to sign up for class? You reach out and ask for a meeting. While I don’t know her and I always seek to understand … I do know her father is threatening the rights of many of my beloved clients and coaches and as a business owner, I take my responsibility to protect and fight for my people very seriously.”
Since the post, Ann’s Facebook page got out of control with comments that led to the post being deleted. Although the post is no longer visible, the comments are still available to read. Many of the comments were upset over Ann’s statements – blaming Ann for compromising the privacy of Ivanka – and just as many offered support. One commenter even called Ann a warrior for social justice.
Regardless of what side is taken in terms of Ann’s statement, she does make a point that most people could agree upon: Ivanka has power and a platform that she is refusing to use. Ivanka does not need to stand by silently while her father makes orders and decisions with potentially devastating consequences. Rather than call her father out when he is wrong, Ivanka chooses to sit back quietly.
