Anyone he has ever tried to put a pet into a carrier knows that they generally do not like this. Whether it is a dog, cat, or a bird, they generally do not have good associations with these containers. However, sometimes it is a necessity to put them in, particularly when you need to take them somewhere.
Max the cockatoo is no exception to these animals who do not like their carriers. His owner states, “Max knows when he sees his carrier that it’s [time for] a visit to the vet and gets pretty vocal about it.” Obviously, this bird has negative associations with this carrier, and every time he sees it, he thinks it is time to go to the vet. Understandably, he does not like it, and he protests in the way that he can.
In this video, his owner is attempting to explain to him why the carrier is out. In this case, they have just had tornado warnings, and they wanted the carrier ready in case they needed to take the bird to the basement. However, Max would not listen to this at all. He was vocally protesting, with all of his squawking, and he ended up running up the stairs, opening up the basement door, and running away from them all.
This video is absolutely hilarious, and it shows just how intelligent birds can be. Max absolutely would not tolerate even the mere presence of the carrier, and he made this known to everyone around.
