During one of the most difficult weeks in the history of the American LGBT community, one educated man used his Twitter account to debunk the claim that homophobia is sanctioned in the Bible. He first makes the excellent point that the act of lying is considered an abomination in the Bible, yet many people lie on a daily basis.
But the Bible whiz didn’t just stop there. He also went on to discuss how the Bible blasts eating “unclean food” such as pork. Pointing out the hypocrisy of the fact that many people eat pork, he then went on to discuss how eating shellfish is also considered an abomination in the eyes of the Bible.
Incredibly, it didn’t stop there. The well-versed guy also went on to cite specific parts of the Bible in which it is stated that drinking alcohol is also an abomination. Obviously, many people who express homophobia have no problem drinking, so this fact does display the hypocrisy of those who choose to drink but ostracize others for being gay.
He then goes on to discuss the Bible’s conservative stances on everything from adultery to masturbation. He lays out an excellent argument for the idea that one can’t cherry pick ideas from the Bible and then state that they are the gold standard.
