People are always sharing pictures on Facebook. These pictures are often forgettable. They might be pictures of someone else’s baby. They might be pictures of someone’s new car.
Increasingly, they are pictures of food just ordered from a fancy restaurant. However, did you ever think someone might take a picture of a tree and share it to Facebook? Even more amazingly, did you ever think a Facebook picture of a tree might actually be interesting? That is exactly what happened with a picture of a tree a man shared to Facebook recently.
He was walking in the woods when he noticed a tree carved to look like Jesus Christ hanging on the cross. The tree was impressive, and he immediately took a picture and shared it on his Facebook account. He later learned the tree took years to carve. It was carved by the famous sculptor and poet Rudy Rahme. Rahme carved many other trees in the area between the years 1994 and 1999. They are meant to capture the awe and majesty of Jesus Christ. The trees are found in the Forest of God in the Quadi Qadisha Valley of Lebanon. The photographed tree is known as the Jesus Tree.
You can find scriptures in the Bible that might have inspired Rudy Rahme to do the carvings. For example, Psalm 29:5 states, “The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.” What do you think? Would you like to visit these trees? Let us know!
