He Sees A Teen Walking Alone Down The Street. But What He’s Carrying Had Him Pulling Over

When attorney Daniel Hamilton saw a young man walking down the road wearing a full suit in the August heat, he was shocked. The young man was visibly overheated from hiking in the suffocating heat of a Memphis summer. After Hamilton noticed that the young man was carrying a pair of dress shoes, he was so intrigued that he pulled over and offered him a ride.

He found out that the young man was Ladarrius Gilmore, a 19 year old student at the local community college. Gilmore had heard that Central Barbecue was hiring a dishwasher, and he was desperate to get the job. He was willing to walk 30 minutes in the suffocating heat, just to interview for the position. Hamilton was so impressed with Gilmore’s drive and determination that he went into the restaurant with him and recommended him to the manager.

After a brief interview, Gilmore was hired on the spot. When Hamilton posted about the encounter on Facebook, many people were touched by the encounter. A local businessman, Jon Hodge, gave Gilmore a bike so that he will not have to walk to work every day.

Gilmore is thankful that so many people were willing to help him, and he plans to go to culinary school and start his own business one day. Hamilton is happy that he had the chance to help someone. He says that it is nice to know that “Good people fill this town. That is why I love Memphis.”
