Instagram is a great way for people to share their most creative moments with the world, and that is exactly what one couple started doing with their social media presence. David and Sarah have gained a exceptional amount of attention for their recreation of famous movie scenes that star their cats, Tara and Willow. The couple lives in Nottingham, England, and they recreated some of the most famous movie scenes in history using their adorable black cats. The scenes all star the cats, but if the scene in question requires a secondary element, one of their humans takes the role. David is in several of these shots, and they are both entertaining and very cute.
The idea originated in a unique way as well. David hosted a trivia night at a local pub, and the game included a category for film and tv questions. Sarah and David decided they wanted to do something special for that category, so they started doing their famous movie recreations as a way to create unique questions for the game. The goal of the category was for players to determine which famous movie the recreated scene was from.
The game went perfectly, and everyone in the pub loved the cute photos of the pair of black cats so much that David and Sarah decided to continue making them. They say it only takes about an hour or so to get each shot, but it also requires a lot of ingenuity, patience, and cat treats. Both Tara and Willow are extremely affectionate cats, and they are known to run to the door to greet their owners when they arrive home. They even follow their owners around the house, which is closer to the behavior of a dog than a cat. Sometimes the cats even ride on the shoulders of their owners.
One of the most popular recreations they did was of the famous bicycle chase sequence from the classic movie E.T. the Extraterrestrial. According to Sara, that was one of the more difficult shots to get right. David is riding the bike in the shot, and Tara is seated in the basket with a towel over her head just like in the movie. The shot was difficult to orchestrate because Tara wouldn’t sit with the towel on her head for very long, so they had to start feeding her treats underneath the towel. When she would finish the treat, she would stick her head up and out of the towel looking for another. It took several takes before they were able to capture the best photo, not only because the picture was hard to get, but because they were laughing so much at Tara underneath the towel.
Another iconic scene they recreated with their lovely cats was the classic scene from Alien where the creature erupts from the actor’s chest. David played the human actor for the shot, and Sara stuck the cat through a hole in David’s shirt that was surrounded by previously applied fake red blood. The results were hilarious since it looked as if the innocent kitty had emerged from the man’s chest.
Several other popular photos from the collection include a scene from The Shining, The Lady and the Tramp, Life of Pi, and Ghost. In the photo from The Shining, one of the cats plays Jack Nicholson coming through the door with an axe, and David is on the other side screaming. The Lady and the Tramp scene recreates the famous scene from the movie in which the two dogs share a plate of spaghetti and end up slurping the same noodle.
