One family in Arizona has an amazing story to tell. The Pellettiere-Swapp family experienced something that is both frightening and astounding. In February, son Steven came home to find his 45-year-old mother Lyndee unconscious.
After being rushed to the hospital, Lyndee was in a coma for nearly two weeks. Doctors did all they could do for the mother-of-two, but told her husband that they felt there was nothing else they could try. Lyndee’s wish was to be an organ donor and to honor her wish, they would need to pull her off life support so that her organs could be donated.
Lyndee’s husband, daughter, and son all gathered around her hospital bed and did the hardest thing they ever had to do- they shut off the life support machine keeping her alive. Each family member then took their time to say good-bye to Lyndee. Her husband leaned down so no one could hear and whispered to her, “I need you to fight”. What no one in the room knew, Lyndee was fighting with all her might.
Somehow, Lyndee pulled through after being taken off of life support. When she came out of her coma, she told her family and the doctors that she could hear them the entire time they thought she was gone. She heard their whispers of encouragement, as well as their tearful good-byes. Now she wants to tell others who may have a family member in the same situation, “Just because you are not conscious does not mean you cannot hear. So you should talk to your loved ones if you are in that situation. They hear you.”.
