When a picture of the Kardashians is shared over social media, it’s not really a surprise. One post, however, is catching a lot of attention, and maybe it’s for the good.
The original poster, Stephen Savage, created a post on Facebook with two different images of two completely different women. The first picture was of the Kardashians, with Kim Kardashian being the main focus and the second was of a 19-year-old army specialist named Monica Lin Brown who is someone Savage believes more people should know about.
Brown found herslef in the middle of a battlefield attempting to help five soldiers in her unit that were wounded during an explosion. She ran through gunfire and, at one point, used her own body in order to protect those wounded soldiers from mortars which fell nearly 100 yards away from them. This act earned her a Silver Star for her valor. This makes her the second woman to ever receive something like this since World War II. This heroism was performed despite the fact that women aren’t even supposed to be in combat with male soldiers.
Savage ends the post by saying that he wasn’t sure who the Kardashians were, but he’s alright with not knowing them in exchange for knowing how brave and amazing Brown was that day.
