When a man asks a woman out, it is no small endeavor. It has to be done right, and done well, and done thoughtfully if he wants to make a good impression on the apple of his eye. Whether that means he simply asks her in person, or texts her to confirm plans, or emails her about a fun event he’s thinking about taking her to, the man should always put some effort into how he asks a woman. One such event that made it onto the web has been going viral, but not for the reasons you’d think.
The man in question’s name is Jason Garmon. He’s a single parent, which is daunting, since has to do everything for his kids – clean up, help them with homework, diaper duty… everything. His two children – Grayson and Skylar – are incredibly happy with their father, and grateful for all he does for them. And who is the lucky woman Jason asked out? His daughter.
He was asking his 11 year old daughter his work place’s daddy-daughter dance. Though it is unclear how long it took him to think up how he asked her to come with her, her reaction says it all: she was excited have the chance to go. Garmon decided he would set an example for his daughter, and devised an ingenious way to ask her out.
He decided to surprise her with the invitation, he and Grayson set up a table with two glasses of lemonade and her brother covered her eyes as her father led her out to the table. When Grayson uncovered her eyes, the first thing she saw was her father holding a bouquet of beautiful flowers. Beside him was a sign that read “Will you go to the Daddy/Daughter dance with me?” The table was covered in a white table cloth with two wooden chairs beside it so that they could sit and have a wonderful time together over the lemonade.
In a series of pictures that Garmon posted on Facebook after he asked her, Skyler hugs her dad, and wraps her legs tightly around his waist and arms around his neck. Garmon hugs his daughter back while they standing next to the table. Another picture shows Grayson and Garmon leading Skylar to the table from their home. With these pictures, Garmon added a caption. It read, in full:
“Just because I’m her Dad doesn’t mean I’m going to assume she’ll go with me. You ask out a lady like it’s the first time every time. Always keep her guessing, always try to win her. I don’t care if it’s your daughter, your girlfriend, or your wife, the day you stop trying is the day you’ll lose her. I had always planned on doing something like this for a woman, but I realized the most important female that deserves my attention is already right here beside me.”
With such a heart touching and heartfelt invitation and reaction, we’re all sure of what she said. After all, how could she turn down her father – who took the time to pain the sign, set the table, make the lemonade, etc. – when he showed her that he wanted to make sure she wanted to go with him?
