A video posted on YouTube by user FlickyRich shows a confrontation between a man and two middle-aged women, supposedly taken July 4th on New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The video has since gone viral, racking up over 13 million views since its original posting in summer 2014.
In the video, the man, who is filming the scene with his cell phone, approaches the women, who are in the process of breaking down a beach canopy and seem to be having trouble figuring out how to fold up the framework. A couple of boogie boards and a small cart with beach chairs on it are also visible nearby.
The man politely asks if the women need help. They respond by asking if he knows how to fold the canopy. At which point, he reveals that yes, he knows because the canopy is his family’s: “Yeah. This is our stuff.”
The women, after a few seconds of shock in realizing they’ve been caught trying to take what’s not theirs, react with anger. One moves off camera but the other confronts the man, threatening to take his camera and throw it away — “put it in the grass.”. As the video ends, the woman rushes at the man, who backs off, putting the camera down.
