Mourners gathered to honor the life of a grandmother who dedicated most of her life to designing quilts. Her name was Margaret, and on July 21, 2016, Margaret’s granddaughter Christina posted a photo of the services to a group on Facebook called Quilting.
The photo delivered a lasting legacy, as Margaret’s hand-crafted quilts decorated each pew in a loving tribute to someone so passionate about a form of art that does not receive much appreciation.
Margaret stitched many quilts during her lifetime and she crafted each one with meticulous precision. Margaret’s granddaughter Christina knew that the group on Facebook known as Quilted would appreciate the exquisite design of each quilt. The group understands the amount of time it takes to design a quilt, even the simplest of quilts, and Margaret’s quilts were as precise as a Picasso.
According to the family, the quilts serve as a living reminder of the woman who was just as passionate about the ones she loved as she was her quilts. Margaret was well known for giving out her quilts to family and friends and to everyone in her life she knew. It was common for Margaret to give quilts to grandsons and granddaughters for special occasions, especially marriages and graduations.
