Fugelsang Tears Apart Those Who Say Americans Won’t Support A Socialist Jew Like Bernie Sanders

Comedian John Fugelsang recently attacked what he perceived as the hypocrisy of Republicans that criticize Senator Bernie Sanders, who happens to be Jewish, as a Socialist, yet make a great effort to bond with devout religious groups.

Fugelsang noted the emerging Presidential campaign of Sanders, who is running for the Democratic nomination for President in 2016, when he made his comment via a tweet on June 3.

“They tell me (Bernie Sanders) can’t win b/c America won’t vote for a Socialist Jew. I tell them America celebrates a Socialist Jew every Dec 25,” wrote Fugelsang. The reference was, of course, to Christmas, which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.

Fugelsang sent out another tweetthat said if Christ came back, his biggest supporters would begin to attacking him as a Socialist.

The reverence that Christ has within the religious community is due in part to his love of all people and helping those less fortunate. However, the church-going community gives strong support to Republicans in the past, who have been criticized for cutting funds to programs to help the poor and their policies that critics have charged negatively affect the lives of minorities.

Sanders, who represents Vermont, is seen as a long-shot candidate with little chance to win the nomination, given the presence of former First Lady, New York Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The main chance that Sanders may have is that Republicans continue to search for ways to damage Clinton’s campaign through mentions of potential scandals.
