Fox News Gives Misinformation On White Supremacist Quebec Terrorist Attack

Once again, Fox News has been caught spreading misinformation about the Quebec shooter who attacked a Canadian mosque. They stated that the shooter was a Muslim, when in reality it was a 27-year-old White Nationalist named Alexandra Bissonnette.

Six people died during the attack and eight were seriously-injured. Before checking their facts or considering their mis-reporting, Fox News stated that the person was from Morrocco – a predominately-Muslim country in North Africa.

People quickly noticed that the information Fox News put out was totally inaccurate. Fox News also posted this information on Twitter, and followers asked them to take the tweet down because of its misinformation#. Fox News posted a link to the website where they got the information, which was in French. They refused to take the tweet down even though several followers told them that it was wrong. Many people believe that Fox News deliberately misled people.

Fox News reportedly kept the information up in order to justify Trump’s immigration ban. The immigration ban targets Yemen, Syria, Somolia, Libya, Iran, Iraq and Sudan. Canada is not included in the immigration ban. Fox News stated that we have to remain vigilant, and the president is taking the steps necessary. They also stated that Trump is taking the country’s security into consideration.
