EBay has been well known to be a leader in the investment of clean energy alternatives as well as furthering sustainable political agendas such as the fight for net neutrality, which brings up the question; Why is EBay still affiliated with the American Legislative Exchange Council or ALEC.
This is what many people have been asking as well as more than 80 groups. These groups have headed a petition that was sent to EBay’s top executives that ultimately has lead to the company withdrawing support from the ALEC. The ALEC is actually a very dangerous group that is against both net neutrality and clean energy solutions.
The values of this group are contradictory to many tech giants values, Google, Microsoft,Facebook, and Yelp have already cut their affiliations with the ALEC. The values they hold and actively promote are harmful to us as a country and to our future generations.
The ALEC in particular denies climate change and encourages groups that affiliate with them to use tricks of the trade to appear to be green companies while actually still supporting the values that they are supposed to be against.
EBay’s decision to drop their affiliation with the ALEC comes in the wake of activists stepping up the pressure after the other giants dropped support and people are really starting to question cooperations motives by looking beyond their presentation and more at the cooperations actions.
