The Bible is one of, if not the most read books on planet earth. Claimed to have been written by prophets of God and other holy men, today there are millions and millions of Bibles in existence, but finding a handwritten version of the word of God is an impossibly rare occurrence. But recently, a man has made just such a discovery.
The handwritten version of the King James bible was supposedly misplaced by employees of the University, which, admittedly, sounds like complete negligence and stupidity on the part of the staff. But, it seems that it was misplaced in the archives long ago, which kept it hidden from scholars all this time. Until Jeffrey Allan Miller, a professor of English at the Montclair University in New Jersey decided to show up. He found the first draft of the King James Bible when he was reading through a notebook that was titled,”Greek work studies, and some Hebrew notes.” After thoroughly dissecting the book, Miller realized that he had just discovered something extraordinary… But, he wanted to be sure of his find before getting his hopes too high. And after several examinations of the ancient text, Miller was convinced. He had just discovered the earliest handwritten version of the King James Bible.
Miller observed that the author of the notebook seemed to have been in an editing process, as several sections were circled, crossed out, and moved around to different locations. Miller realized that this was probably the very first draft of the Bible itself. Miller’s find is truly an extraordinary one. His story was instantly picked up by the New York Times, and some people are now claiming that Miller’s find proves that God doesn’t exist…
The original Bible was said to have been written by God himself. A divine power was rumored to rule over the original text. But, Jeffrey Allan Miller found an ancient book that was clearly edited and revised by an ordinary human being. In my ow imagination, I picture the creator of the great and mysterious universe to have the ability to write a story book without a whole lot of mistakes…
Whatever the case, Miller’s find is an amazing contribution to human history. And it stokes the imagination to picture the man or woman who created this book, writing, editing and rewriting in some dark study thousands of years ago, molding the spiritual structure of a story that would shape the modern world.
