Denver Says ‘No’ To Chick Fil A In Airport Because It Is Run By Close Minded Bigots

Chick-Fil-A is known for being closed on Sundays, having Bible quotes on their Styrofoam cups, and being against same-sex marriage equality.

Why is this a problem? Denver has blocked a location in the Denver International Airport. This has become an issue because of the fact that while Chick-Fil-A may not be open on Sundays, but the airport is. It’s a logistics issue.

Not only is it a logistical issue, but there is a moral issue at stake here. Robin Kniech raised the issue about the restaurant’s moral standings. She didn’t want the funds made at the Chick-Fil-A in the Denver International Airport to fuel more discrimination. This was the first mention of how the politics of everything fit into the conversation.

While 10 out of the 13 council members were at the initial meeting, not a single one of them stood up for Chick-Fil-A. Discrimination against LGBTs is forbidden in Denver, and they tried to institute same-sex marriage in 1975. They were finally able to legalize it in 2014. While nothing has been said straight out about LGBTs being discriminated on the job, there have been reports that they keep quiet for fear of being fired.

While this is a refreshing change of pace, Denver is a liberal city while Chick-Fil-A is popular at airports. Chipotle follows after, which is a liberal restaurant chain.
