President Obama recently took some time out of his schedule to visit New York with two very special people: his daughters Sasha and Malia. This would be a departure from his usual weekend activities, which often involve work and golfing. Obama has recently spoken about how sad he will be when his older daughter leaves the nest and goes to college the next fall. There are rumors that Malia has obtained a summer job in New York and is currently working in the television production industry.
Obama took care of some business during his visit to New York City. He first attended a small fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee, which was hosted by shipping magnates George and Nitzia Logothetis. The event is reported to have drawn 30 supporters of the Democratic party, who paid upwards of $30,000 a ticket to attend the event.
The President and his daughters then went out to eat at Carbone, one of the top Italian-American restaurants in the city. Next, they went to the Whitney Museum of American Art for a private after-hours tour. While the White House did not provide any further official information about the President’s visit to New York City, Obama and his daughters have been seen attending the hip-hop musical “Hamilton” on Broadway during Saturday night.
In interviews, Obama has shared how he was worried that growing up in the White House would have a negative impact on his daughters, but he said that in the end, they turned out to be just fine.
