BREAKING: ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ Star Doris Roberts Dies Age, 90

Talented actress Doris Roberts, best known for her role as Marie Barone on the television sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016. She was 90 years old.

Roberts enjoyed an impressive career that spanned throughout seven decades. Roberts’ first role was in the television series Something Wild. She was a regular actress on television starring in Angie and Remington Steele. Roberts received an Emmy Award in 1983 for her supporting role in St. Elsewhere. She won awards for her guest role in Perfect Strangers and her role in Everybody Loves Raymond in which she co-starred with comedian Raymond Romano.

The late actress also enjoyed a stage career. Roberts appeared in The Desk Set, Bad Habits, and The Last of the Red Hot Lovers. Her last stage appearance was in Unusual Acts of Devotion. Roberts was an advocate for many causes. She worked actively to speak out against age discrimination in the workplace. She also worked with Puppies Behind Bars, a group in which inmates train service dogs, as well as with the Children with AIDS Foundation.

Roberts had one son, Michael Cannata, Jr. with her first husband, Michael Cannata. They divorced when their son was just five years old. He survives. Roberts was preceded in death by her second husband, writer William Goyen.
