We all know that pretending is the name of the game in Hollywood. Actors and actresses show up on a movie set and pretend to be somebody else. These Hollywood elite are often great at continuing this occupation of pretending in their personal lives. For example, famous actors have to pretend not to be bothered by the constant demands for pictures and autographs. Actresses have to pretend not to bothered by the media constantly critiquing their wardrobe choices. However, the pretending sometimes runs even deeper than this. It’s true! This is exactly the case for the superstar actor Brad Pitt.
Brad Pitt flew into the city of New Orleans immediately after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Like many people, he wanted to help. Pitt committed to helping the people rebuild their homes. However, Pitt decided to make his help a long term initiative.
With little fanfare, Pitt spent the next ten years raising money, hiring famous architects, and working with residents to rebuild over 100 homes. The homes were designed to be eco-friendly and better able to weather out storms. Pitt did all of this under the radar. Essentially, he pretended to not be as big of a hero as he actually was!
Pitt stated that it makes him feel great to visit the neighborhood and learn the homes he helped build only have to pay 24 dollars in utilities. Pitt decided to rebuild and make something better than it was before. What an incredible man! Let us know what you think below!
