Losing someone special from your life is never easy. Having to face life on a daily basis after they are gone can be extremely difficult. Not seein them or hugging them or even talking with them can leave an enormous void in someone’s life. We start to miss the little things like a person’s laughter, the scent of their cologne or perfume, even seeing them in their favorite shirt.
One man, afraid that his family would forget him after his death, did his best to ensure he wouldn’t ever be forgotten by his family. Prior to his passing, he had a pillow made out of his favorite shirt with the following message embroidered:
“This is a shirt I used to wear. Whenever you hold it, know that I am there. Love, Grandfather.”
Having this small part of them somehow makes it easier to handle a difficult situation, and to cope with the future knowing that they’ll always be there for you in spirit. Like Obi-Wan and Yoda. As long as someone’s memory lives on, so too, do they.
This heartfelt pillow will forever remain a cherished memento of the grandfather they love so much. And through it he has sort of achieved immortality … As long as his kids and grandkids and great grandkids look at that pillow and think of him, his spirit will never disappear.
