After I Found Out Why This Fast Food Chain Demoted Cancer Survivor I Was Sick To My Stomach

Daphne Richards was a full-time staff manager at Chick-Fil-A. While freshly divorced with two children, she has found the company to have the perfect benefits. They provided her with health insurance and good pay. However, that would all change pretty soon. Richards has tragically been diagnosed with breast cancer in May and had to go on medical leave for a Mastectomy.

When she came back, though, she has been struck with terrible news. Chick-Fil-A will no longer be providing health insurance for Richards and will be demoting her. She will have to go from working 40+ hours a week to 10-15 hours, and her pay has been reduced from $14 to $10.

Daphne Richards has found this to be an unfair action, especially after coming from medical leave and having to deal with her new medical bills. Although Chick-Fil-A has been paying her health insurance while she was on leave, Goettsche, Richards’ manager, felt that she should have reduced hours out of concern for her current state and recovery.

However, she has also said that she has written up Richards a couple of times, which is why she reduced her pay. Richards claims this as false, even pulling out a letter she received in April from Goettsche praising her for her outstanding work. Richards believes that she is being discriminated against and has filed a complaint with the Colorado Civil Rights Commission. Richards was originally attracted to this company for their Christian values, but now believes they are being unjust.
