In an unusual case, the City Council of Winfield, Alabama, has publicly come forth that their town is now officially owned by the creator, God.
This proclamation was published with support from the City of Winfield’s very own newspaper, The Journal. This news and government declaration makes God the new landlord of the city. The city’s mayor, Randy Price feels, “. …we need to stand up for what is right. Our forefathers said, ‘One nation under God,’ and we went so far away from that. There are not enough godly people involved in day-to-day decisions.”
It is a bold move to say the least. The priority of religion over government in today’s world will only attract dissent. Yet, surprisingly, public discontent has been contained as only one resident from the city is taking action. This anonymous citizen has voiced their concern to the Freedom From Religion Foundation. The mayor is only facing verbal animosity via Facebook.
In response to such persecution, Mayor Price states: “I’m going to step on a lot of people’s toes, but there’s not but one God, and that one God, to Him be the glory. There’s no other way; there’s no other God. There are a lot of religions out there but only one God.” So the mayor is not backing down anytime soon. His largest debacle will come from citizens who are likely to complain about the job being done around the city. How that job aligns with God’s will, only time will tell us.
