Two police officers in Canada were driving when they saw a deer jump in front of them. The officers investigated the incident, and they noticed that the deer did not survive the accident. They also noticed that the deer was pregnant, and the fawn inside of her was trying to kick its way out.
Derrick Bigger was one of the officers at the scene. He stated that he has had to deliver a lot of babies. However, he stated that he had never delivered a deer. When the fawn made its way out, the officers cut its umbilical cord. They then cleaned the baby deer off with water and took it to a rehab center.
The deer was taken to a rehabilitation center called Hope For Wildlife. The staff members stated that the officers did everything right. The fawn had a severe tail injury, but it did not have any broken bones.
The deer remains at the rehabilitation center. It will be released back into the wild once it gets strong enough. Hope For Wildlife’s staff members have stated that police officers save lives everyday but saving the life of a baby deer is something that is out of the ordinary.
