This video is a clear depiction of a genuine and endearing moment when a dog and a baby are communicating not in words, but through the language of whining and whimpering. The baby girl is clearly agitated and begins to whine.
However, sitting comfortably on a chair close by is the family dog looking at the baby as she fusses and whines. Every time the baby makes a whiny noise, the dog whimpers quietly, as if to tell the baby not to cry.
For a few seconds the baby stops whining long enough to hear the dog whimpering and when the dog stops, the baby starts whining again. There is clearly some special dog and baby communication happening here. What a cute exchange! What is so enjoyable about the video is the way the exchanges between the dog and the baby appear to be so genuine. And as they exchange whines and whimpers, both the dog and the baby seem to clearly understand each other.
The dog seems extremely empathetic to the baby’s discomfort. Amazingly, the dog is not barking over the baby, but instead the dog is whimpering to get the baby’s attention long enough for the baby to stop whining for a moment. It almost looks as though the dog is telling the baby that everything will be just fine; just stop fussing and whining.
