Anna Boxman Thompson is a mother who recently tied the knot in October of this year with Travis Thompson, the love of her life. The day was perfect, except they felt the loss of one person strongly- Anna’s son Lake Bozman. Lake passed away just this past May after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia a few years ago. On May 15th, 2012, Anna’s life drastically changed.
That was the day that her 6-year-old son Lake was admitted to the Egleston Hospital. Since that date, Lake was under the hospital’s care while undergoing chemo for his Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Unfortunately Lake lost his battle with his Acute Myeloid Leukemia on May 1st, 2015. Anna and Travis received a lot of support from friends, family, and strangers through their tough time, but they still felt the absence of Lake during their wedding.
Especially when it came time to take their family photos. The couple had hired Brandy Angel, a professional photographer and personal friend, to take their wedding photos. Brandy runs her business, called Be the Change – Brandy Angel Foundation (BAF), as a non-profit organization that helps her clients tell a story that they need to tell through her photographs. Clients like Anna and Travis are exactly why Brandy created her business.
Brandy, who of course was aware of the couple’s loss, decided to create photos that would not only capture their special day but also include Lake. After taking the photos, Brandy edited them to reflect a ghostly presence among the family- Lake. The edited photos that Brandy created show that Lake is there in spirit with his family. Anna has said that taking pictures without her eldest son that day was almost unbearable, but the edited photos that Brandy produced were exactly what Anna needed: having her family together again.
