She Cuts Tiny Slits In Her Apple, Then Tops It With Butter And Oats. Just Minutes In The Oven. WOW!

Apple desserts are an essential part of any fall dinner. While many people enjoy Hasselback potatoes, a potato that is thinly sliced and brushed with butter and spices, this dessert version is sure to blow your guests away. Baked Hasselback apples are a must for any fall dinner party. The pleasant smell of apples, sugar and spices wafting through the home is an added bonus of this delicious dessert.

To make this treat, begin by preheating the oven to 400 degrees. Peel and core two firm apples. Slice the apples in half with a vertical cut. Cut each apple half into thin slices, taking care not to cut all of the way through the apple. The apples should be connected by a thin slice on the bottom of each apple. Repeat with the remaining three halves. Spray a baking dish with cooking spray and place each apple half face-down into the dish.

In a small bowl, combine two tablespoons of brown sugar, 3/4 of a teaspoon of cinnamon and two-and-a-half tablespoons of melted butter. Mix well and brush the mixture onto the apples, taking care to get a small amount in-between each apple slice. Cover the pan tightly with foil and bake the apples for 20 minutes. Remove the foil from the pan and bake the apples an additional 10 minutes.

While the apples bake, mix together an additional two tablespoons of brown sugar, two tablespoons of old-fashioned rolled oats, one teaspoon of all-purpose flour and 1/4 of a teaspoon of salt. When the apples have finished baking, spread the oat mixture on top of each apple and bake for another 10 minutes.

Carefully remove each apple from the pan and place onto a plate. Serve the apples with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and serve warm.

This dessert is sure to quickly become a family favorite. Baked Hasselback apples are the perfect warm treat for a cool fall evening. Try serving them at the next dinner party or family dinner and get ready for your guests to be amazed.
