Jamie Lee Curtis is one of Tinseltown’s most glamorous and admired actresses, and has been for decades. That’s why it may come as a jaw dropper to people that she’s actually been happily married to the same person for more than 30 years. Hollywood marriages are known for being so short and fleeting, after all. In December of 1984 she married director, musician and actor Christopher Guest of “This is Spinal Tap” fame. This was her very first marriage. So far, it’s also been her last.
Curtis was recently a guest on The Today Show to discuss “Scream Queens,” her brand new television program. When the show’s host inquired about why she thinks her marriage has been going strong for so long, she responded with a basic and concise instruction. She grinned and said “Don’t get divorced.” Then she quickly followed up with a little more advice — “Hold on.” Curtis then noted that she finds relationships and marriages to be absolutely intriguing. She said that she thinks that she’d be able to pen a book on the subject entitled “Don’t Leave.”
The television program’s hosts agreed with her that penning a book full of useful and practical marriage tips may just be the way to go.
Jamie Lee Curtis is living proof that having a lasting and productive career in Hollywood is by no means a recipe for marriage and relationship disasters. She confirmed herself that maintaining a lasting marriage amid all of the pressures of the Hollywood life is indeed possible. All you have to do is remain committed to your union and refrain from leaving your partner. Patience, apparently, is the secret to Mrs. Curtis’s enviable marriage.
