When 57-year-old Tony Sellers went to visit his 79-year-old mother Sadie at the assisted living home where she lived, he was distraught to find the old bird had flown the coop! That is to say, his mother was missing. And her son was shocked at where she turned up…
Sadie, a grandmother of 11, had decided on a whim to venture down to the nearby tattoo parlor. She had decided to get a small heart tattooed on her upper arm. When Tony walked in he was taken aback to see his mother’s tiny frame surrounded by three burly men covered in tattoos, though she seemed to be quite at ease.
She announced, with emphatic profanity, that she didn’t “f**king care” what anybody else had to say about her tattoo. On the over-hill side of life, Sadie had decided it was time for here to live life on her own terms, and she was going to make no apologies for living the rest of her life to the fullest. Although Sellers was astounded that his mother had deliberately left the retirement home to get a tattoo, her salty language didn’t seem to faze him much.
Sadie may present a polite face to the world, but Tony noted that she has always sworn like a sailor behind closed doors. This feisty grandma serves as an inspiration to anyone locked into the expectations of others. Don’t let anyone (not even yourself) stop you from getting out there and living your life.
