Being a mother of three can be difficult – especially when the kids come along for the ride. Rachel Scott, a mother of three, was having one of those days. One where she just wanted to get home and relax.
However, the family in line in front of her was doing something incredibly odd: they were sorting through their cart at the register. Popsicles were put aside. As were other things that the kids may have just stuck into the cart. Mrs. Scott wondered at this for a moment.
Then it hit her: they were trying to stay within their family budget. Something inside her moved and she offered to pay for the extra items. One of the little girls that was with the other mother wiped tears from her eyes as the offer was made. The mother looked at Rachel as if she were struck with a rod. The reaction was more than she bargained for, but her reasoning inside was what made her step forward.
Rachel knew her family’s situation. They had enough for what they had in their cart. The family also had enough to pay for some extra each trip. Whether or not her own kids were with her is not known, but Rachel felt that this trip, she would do something more than just make her own family happy.
She ended the trip knowing that she hadn’t filled just their kitchen: she had filled their hearts too.
