Bo Reichenbach started out as the quintessential all-American boy next door. He grew up playing sports. He married his high school sweetheart, and is a doting father to their son, who was born in 2008. He made his own father proud by fulfilling his dreams and becoming a Navy SEAL. He felt honored to be given the opportunity to serve his country.
While deployed in Afghanistan in 2012, Reichenbach lost both of his legs after stepping on a landmine. Like the hero he is, his thought not of himself but of his son. He feared that his son might have to grow up without a father. Unsurprisingly, Reichenbach’s father Ron reacted with more sadness than Bo did; Ron hated seeing his son give up on the athleticism that previously defined him. Bo was happy simply to return home to his son and enjoy his new lease on life.
Part of this second chapter involved building a new house in Montana. The Reichenbach family is in the construction business, and The Home Depot Foundation stepped in to offer help as well. Other donors took the cause to heart and helped pay for smart technology to be installed in the new home.
On Father’s Day, Reichenbach received a special surprise: Home Depot generously gave him all of the tools he will need to finish building his new house. He was also given a customized UTV. With help from his family and Home Depot, Reichenbach hopes to have his house finished by July 17, the anniversary of the day he lost his legs.
