For any animal lover, animal abuse is an absolutely heinous thing to imagine. Mistreating and harming an animal who depends on a person for love and security is nothing short of horrendous. Puppy mills are notorious for abuse of dogs and puppies; they are known for only caring about their profits and not caring about the safety and well being of their animals. Unfortunately, they remain legal and likely will for a long time.
Moxie is one dog who was rescued after 12 years in a puppy mill. These dogs often need time to habituate themselves to the outside environment. They have a hard time trusting people because they were likely abused, as Moxie was.
Harleigh is another dog who was terrified of people after spending time in a puppy mill. They have come to rescue her, but because she is only used to cruelty, she has a hard time trusting them right away. However, a male volunteer spends just one hour with her and she is already starting to open up. After this one hour, she is actually approaching the volunteer.
Dogs have a natural instinct to form connections, and this one’s natural inclination was finally able to shine through. It is great that this was able to happen within just an hour, because it means that after a longer period of time, she may be able to form deeper connections. The goal is now to find her a loving home, and this task should not be too hard.
