5 PHOTOS: He Heads To His Attic And Notices A String. So He Yanks. What It Reveals? Awesome!

Rudi Schlattner was forced to leave his home in Czechoslovakia with his family after World War II. After 70 years Schlattner, now in his 80s, wanted to go back to that old home and visit where he grew up. That wasn’t his only intent, however.

Once he got inside the home, he went into the attic, found a small string in the wood paneling, and opened it up. Tucked away behind the wood wall was a small set of shelves that housed items his family once held near and dear. They were packaged carefully and placed in the attic behind the wall where no one would find it.

Exactly 70 packages were hidden in the attic. Items inside the packages included hats, hangers, newspapers, skis, umbrellas, pens, books, sewing kits, and more. Not only was it there, preserved for seven decades, but they were in amazing condition despite being stowed away for so long.

The items are going to be placed in a museum in Usti nad Labem, as the state of Czechoslovakia can keep any items that were left behind after World War II was over. Schlattner agreed to help the museum identify the items, even though he’s living with his poor health.
