Wedding vows are considered to be sacred, as this is the time when the husband and wife to be are professing their love and commitment to one another, and making promises that they will be expected to keep for the rest of their lives. However, it is not always a bad thing when humor becomes a part of these vows, as shown in this video clip from the wedding of Andrew and Melissa. Andrew’s unintentional changing of wording in the vows has everyone, especially Melissa, bursting out in laughter.
When he tries to repeat the words “lawfully wedded wife,” all he is able to come out with is “waff-lawfully.” Everyone, including the bride, starts laughing, and he goes on, “and pancakey.” The bride, as well as the rest of the crowd, erupts into hysterical laughter. He tells everyone about his bride, who is laughing uproariously, “Just give her a second.”
It seems that the audience is taking their cues from the bride here. Since she does not at all seem to be bothered by the mistake, no one else is either. Such a mishap may ruin many weddings, but for this one, it seems to have made it better and more memorable for everyone who was there.
Many brides would be aghast at their grooms making a mistake like this while saying their vows, but this one loved it. These two seem like they are about to have a long, happy life together that is filled with joy and laughter.
