John Seaman uploaded a video that would shock the world in May 2012 and show us the first hand realities of what happens when you drink and drive. The video starts with a man staring into the camera in what appears to be a hospital room.
In the background you can hear the sound of an air machine or device that’s pushing oxygen into… something. He goes on to explain that his daughter was in the hospital as a result of being hit by a drunk driver.
His demeanor reads one of a broken man who can only spread the reality of what he was to go through in order to express a point. As he pans the camera around he says “this is my daughter.” What was shown next would shock the world.
The video shows his daughter laying in a bed, eyes wide open with pupils fully dilated with involuntary mouth movements. The sound we heard at the beginning of the video was actually the air from the machine keeping his daughter, Kellie, breathing.
He pans the camera back around to him and pleads with viewers. “Please don’t drink and drive. It might not be you that gets hurt but rather the person you hit. As a result of this, my daughter will never have a life. Her life is over.” His daughter Kellie Seaman died 391 days after that accident but we can only hope this message is what helps us keep drunk drivers off the road.
