The ability to create a patio out of pallets that might otherwise be thrown out after having been used for an extended period of time was the basis of a DIY project from the website Imgur.

A user of the site named Redhead Fox showed how he used 43 pallets, sanded them down and then painted them with primer. After letting them dry, a 13 by 19 stretch of geotextile fabric was placed on the ground, so that no grass would grow between the pallets, which were then laid down.

Using some of the other pallets resulted in construction of a wall, followed by bench chairs. Portions of a pallet were then added to offer a facsimile of a picket fence, while an inflatable pool was brought in.

Then, using some steel rods and wire, the back wall and fence were stabled together to assure privacy. Cushions were then added to place on the newly-constructed bench chairs, while flowers were planted just outside the makeshift picket fence.

The addition of lounge chairs was in anticipation of the new patio becoming a popular swimming area for both the family residing there and guests.

In celebration of the new construction, champagne was brought out, along with flowers and baskets to give the area a true sense of appeal. The end result is that the patio looks much like any other, except for the fact that instead of using costly items during its construction, the process merely involves the use of 43 pallets.
