He started to attack the special counsel and Hillary Clinton before seemingly becoming completely unstable in the public eye. This instability became quite visible on Twitter posts that were made the morning after the shooting.
In these Tweets, he stated that the special counsel’s investigation is nothing more than a “Witch Hunt” that is meant to unhinge him from his position in office. At the same time, he said that this hunt is being led by “some very bad and conflicted people.” Instead of addressing this situation in a civil manner, as he had the day before regarding the shooting, he decided to post such Tweets, which are read by nearly 100 million people.
His civil tone was actually gone by the afternoon of the shooting’s happening, according to some sources. Some more Tweets came from President Trump, claiming that he does not believe it is fair for him to be investigated when Hillary Clinton “escaped prosecution” in regards to how she made use of the private email server during her time as Secretary of State. It seems as if President Trump is attempting to redirect the focus of this investigation away from the fact that he might very well be in league with Russia.
