Trump Hastening His Own Political Death

In light of the shooting that occurred on June 15, 2017, President Trump seemed to handle the situation rather elegantly at first. He gave a speech on the matter at hand, and he also even attended the hospital to visit victims of the shooting. However, he changed his tune less than one day later. He started to attack the special counsel and Hillary Clinton before seemingly becoming completely unstable in the public eye. This instability became quite visible on Twitter posts that were made the morning after the shooting.

In these Tweets, he stated that the special counsel’s investigation is nothing more than a “Witch Hunt” that is meant to unhinge him from his position in office. At the same time, he said that this hunt is being led by “some very bad and conflicted people.” Instead of addressing this situation in a civil manner, as he had the day before regarding the shooting, he decided to post such Tweets, which are read by nearly 100 million people.

His civil tone was actually gone by the afternoon of the shooting’s happening, according to some sources. Some more Tweets came from President Trump, claiming that he does not believe it is fair for him to be investigated when Hillary Clinton “escaped prosecution” in regards to how she made use of the private email server during her time as Secretary of State. This disbelief comes about because he compares the investigation about his possible involvement with Russia a Witch Hunt that is unjustified as well.

These Tweets come as no surprise to many Americas because of the fact that he strayed away from one, specific topic. Many Americans believe that politics place the country in danger when they fail to take precautions against countries like Russia in order to protect the nation. The accusatory tone made in these Tweets indicates that he does not plan on addressing the topic any time in the future, either. Furthermore, these Tweets might also seem to be a decoy, too. It seems as if President Trump is attempting to redirect the focus of this investigation away from the fact that he might very well be in league with Russia. At the same time, surrogates belonging to Trump have also made attacks on special counsel member Robert S. Mueller III, a person that elected Republicans do not believe are called for.

The Tweets made by President Trump on Friday, June 16, 2017 seem to be all the more incriminating. These Tweets seem to come out of a place based in anger or panic, and he insists that the investigation that has been going on for the last several months has yet to come up with any kind of proof that he might indeed have had a “collusion with the Russians.” He calls this lack of information finding to be “sad” as the efforts seem to be a waste in his eyes.

Many Americans have come to question whether or not President Trump has come completely unhinged in recent weeks. However, all these Tweets are serving to do is making his political down spiral happen all the more quickly.

There are suspicions that Trump might be out to fire Mueller from his position. What he might not realize is how this tactic backfired in the face of Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein when he did much the same to former FBI director James B. Comey. However, as many people have come to witness, President Trump does not usually show signs of restraint under pressure. He seems to be digging a deeper and deeper hole for himself, and it does not seem he will make it out of the darkness any time soon.
