46-Year-Old Grandma Insists On Birthing Her Own Grandson

Theresa Hohenhaus was a 46-year-old mom who already felt blessed when her daughter, Alice, survived leukemia twice as a child.

An unfortunate side effect of the radiation treatment was uterine scarring, which was not discovered until Alice was an adult and trying to have a child of her own. She lost her first pregnancy and was told she could not carry a child to term. Theresa decided to help out.

Since Theresa was only in her mid-40s, she was still considered to be in her childbearing years and volunteered to carry a child for her daughter. Alice, who had a fetus prepared for a surrogate, was overcome with joy and immediately agreed. Theresa’s body accepted the implanted fetus right away, and the family grew more excited as the pregnancy advanced.

Theresa carried to term and brought Alice’s son, Parker, into the world by natural childbirth. The whole family was present for the event, including Alice’s brother, James, who saved her life years ago with a bone marrow transplant. While Theresa is thrilled to play the role of grandmother, she said she would love to carry another baby for her daughter. Her amazing and selfless love for her child knows no bounds.
