When it comes to remembering the humans they love, dogs can have great memories. A pit bull named Mojo was rescued recently from a life of abuse and degradation from a kind man named Joey Wagner who lives in Nova Scotia, Canada. Wagner discovered, to his horror, that Mojo was being raised to used as a “bait dog” in a dog-fighting organization, and he was able to get Mojo away from his abusers.
Wagner runs the Baie St. Marie Animal Shelter in Nova Scotia, and he brought the animal to his own shelter to be nursed back to health by the staff. Because Mojo had suffered both physical and mental abuse, his journey to recovery was not easy. However, after several weeks of loving care he regained both his physical health and his zest for life.
When Mojo was feeling better, Wagner came to visit him. Because Mojo had not seen Wagner for several weeks, the staff was not sure if the animal would even recognize him. When Mojo went wild with joy at the sight of Wagner, everyone present was thrilled and happy. The heartwarming reunion was filmed and put on the Internet, where it quickly went viral. It just goes to show what wonderful animals pit bulls can be.
